This is a topic I've debated with myself for months on whether I want to write about it, and now that I've decided to, I'm wondering why it was even a debate. This happens to be a blog where I express MY opinions and hope to hear YOUR feedback, so here we go.

Last week the first male professional athlete announced that he is gay. Now, as expected, the reaction from other professional athletes ranged from extremely supportive to completely against. But here is where things get interesting, if you are supportive of this issue, you can be as vocal as you'd like and no issues would arise. However, if you are against same sex relationships and you make that known in any shape form, or fashion, you're automatically homophobic and insensitive.

My parents, both respectfully against same sex relationships, and I, in support of same sex relationships, have debated numerous times on why or why not we have our views and beliefs. To this day we still don't agree on the issue, however my parents do recognize that this is truly a different day in age. My generation is considered to be the most accepting of change in history, and my parents have 4 kids who all have friends that are part of the LGBT

The biggest reason my parents are against this topic at hand is because of religious beliefs. How do we know that when celebrities speak out against same sex relationships religion isn't a driving factor......we don't. We don't and this rate we never will because as a society, everyone is quick to ridicule them with calling them a homophobic or insensitive. In actuality, it's just an exercise of freedom of speech. The same freedom exercised when the person chooses to announce their sexual preference and the same right exercised when anyone expresses their support for the person or matter.

My main point in this article is to remind everyone that the right to have an opinion is something that will always exist. Their opinion does not, and will not, fall in line with your opinion, but their choice to express their opinion is the same as you choosing to express your opinion.

The Conference Semifinals of the 2013 NBA Playoffs will tip off in just under 2 hours of me posting this article and compared to the 2012 NBA Playoffs, I feel like I'm hitting the lottery so far with my 1st round picks so I'm hoping to keep it up as the playoffs continue.

EASTERN CONFERENCE

(1) Miami Heat vs (5) Chicago Bulls
Chicago showed alot of grit and toughness against Brooklyn winning the serious despite multiple players with illnesses and injuries. These 2 teams always bring alot of entertainment when they step on the court against each other. Although Miami has beaten Chicago since, don't think either team forgot who snapped who's 27 game win streak in March. This series is going to be more interesting than most expect. In order for the Bulls to get past Lebron and the Heat, they're going to need the last person to win the MVP award not named Lebron to actually suit up and play. Miami in 6.

(2) New York Knicks vs (3) Indiana Pacers
Well, Melo is out of the first round, no more pressure. He can get swept by the Pacers and while there will always be criticism for not winning a ring yet, Melo will have gone farther than ever before. Once again, no pressure. With that being said, the Knicks faced just the type of pressure they needed to against a veteran Boston team. With a 3-0 series lead, New York gave up 2 consecutive games and a 20-0 lead in Game 6 to an experienced Celtic team that refused to quit in a series that people, including myself, expected to go 7 games, looked like a possible sweep, and then had hopes of a 7 game series once again. In the worst, most boring, and least entertaining series in the first round, the Pacers struggled with a sub-par Atlanta Hawks team that took them to a 6th game. The Knicks learned alot in their first round series, the Pacers didn't. New York wasn't allowed to quit until 0:00 was on the clock in their 4th win of the series, Indiana was. Melo will be more consistent in this series, JR won't get suspended, the Knicks will take care of business. KEY FACTOR: Does STAT come back before, after, or during Game 3 of this series. New York in 6.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

(1) Oklahoma City Thunder vs (5) Memphis Grizzlies
Westbrook is supposedly out for the playoffs. I have my doubts about this after David Lee's early and unexpected comeback. Kevin Durant better unleash that mean streak we all know he has in this series because it's going to take all of that and a bag of tricks to get the Thunder out of this round with the most athletic point guard in the game. Memphis exploited a Clippers team that some expected to challenge Miami in the finals so this team is nothing to sleep on. With all of this being said, this will be a physical series either won or lost in the paint. MATCHUP TO WATCH: Serge Ibaka vs Zach Randolph. KD shows out and scores 40 in at least 4 games. Memphis doesn't know how to stop him. Oklahoma City in 7.

(2) San Antonio Spurs vs (6) Golden State Warriors
While no one expected the Lakers to beat the Spurs, the way San Antonio dismantled the Lakers was unexpected. Pop did his thing, stuck to the strategy, got the sweep, and has been resting since last Sunday, and his 3 30 year old stars don't have to step on the court again until Monday. Against Golden State, they'll need that rest. Steph Curry is undoubtedly the MVP of the playoffs so far. David Lee's miraculous comeback, has brought more interest into this series and the coaching matchup is better than most think: Pop vs Mark Jackson. This will be a clash of styles, slow and methodical vs run and gun. Once again, I can't go against Pop. San Antonio in 7.

Round 1 Series Record: 6-2
Conference Semis: .....

Welp, it's one of my favorite times of year. Late April/Mid June, the NBA Playoffs. I had a terrible year with picks last year after being perfect in 2011 so it's time for a redemption year an I'm feeling good this year after the turnout of my NCAA bracket.

I've decided to do complete predictions of each round as they approach, however I will predict this Conference/NBA Finals today.

EASTERN CONFERENCE

(1) Miami Heat vs. (8) Milwaukee Bucks
I feel really bad for the Bucks. I'd rather not make the playoffs than be in this position. Lebron and Wade should just rest this whole series to get ready for the Conference Semifinals. Miami in 4.

(2) New York Knicks vs. (7) Boston Celtics
Whether my pick is correct or not, the winner of this series is coming out of the East, yes they will beat the Heat in a 7 game series. With that being said, this series is going 7 games and this is Melo's time to win a playoff series. Pierce and Garnett simply aren't healthy enough and they will truly miss Ray Allen in these playoffs. JR Smith is the X-Factor. New York in 7.

(3) Indiana Pacers vs. (6) Atlanta Hawks
Another year, another 1st round exit for an Atlanta team that I feel is due to get blown up soon from top to bottom. Indiana is a good team and a force to be reckoned with when healthy. Indiana in 5.

(4) Brooklyn Nets vs. (5) Chicago Bulls
Deron Williams vs Derrick Rose, has to go 7 games. Okay, back to reality now since Rose clearly isn't going to step on the court this season. These might be the 2 most evenly matched teams in the East playoffs this year. Deron/Nate, Johnson/Rip, Wallace/Deng, Humphries/Boozer, Lopez/Noah???? And that's my issue. With Noah healthy, Chicago wins, without him, Brooklyn wins. I got Noah coming back in Game 3. Chicago in 6.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

(1) Oklahoma City Thunder vs. (8) Houston Rockets
Here we go, Harden vs OKC. Too bad that's the only excitement to series. OKC is by far the better team but Harden won't let Houston get swept by his former team. OKC in 5.

(2) San Antonio Spurs vs. (7) Los Angeles Lakers
If there is gonna be a crazy upset this year, you're reading about it right now. Even with the torn Achilles and no Kobe. Duncan is a year older, Manu is just now coming off a torn hamstring, and Parker has a new injury every night. With that being said, Pop is still the coach and they didnt get T-Mac for nothing. San Antonio in 6.

(3) Denver Nuggets vs. (6) Golden State Warriors
Before Gallinari tore that ACL I felt Denver could possibly get past the Spurs and OKC to come out of the West. Well, Gallinari tore his ACL and Ty Lawson hasn't been able to stay healthy since the All-Star break. However, there's still enough talent for the Nuggets to end Steph Curry's record breaking season. Denver in 6.

(4) Los Angeles Clippers vs. (5) Memphis Grizzlies
Last year I picked the Clippers to sweep Memphis in this series while everyone else picked the Grizzlies and I couldn't have been any further from wrong as Memphis won in 7, which is why LA's best team will get revenge this year. Los Angeles in 7.

EAST FINALS

(2) New York Knicks in 7 over
(1) Miami Heat

WEST FINALS

(1) Oklahoma City Thunder in 6 over
(2) San Antonio Spurs

NBA FINALS

(1) Oklahoma City Thunder in 5 over
(2) New York Knicks

Earlier this week we passed the deadline for underclassmen to withdrawal from the NBA Draft. Underclassmen still have until April 28th to declare for the Draft, however, I'm taking the time now to express how I feel about some of the notable names leaving school early this summer.

Reggie Bullock, North Carolina, Junior
As a Duke fan I know this kid is good. Not exactly a bad idea to skip forego his senior season considering I don't see UNC in title contention next season but I believe his draft stock would be better if he waited. Late 1st Round Pick.

Trey Burke, Michigan, Sophomore
Burke won every player of the year award possible and led his team to the National Title game, of course he has the right to come out this season. However, I think it'd be really interesting to see that Michigan team together for at least 2 more seasons. Top 10 Pick.

Michael Carter-Williams, Syracuse, Sophomore
Great kid, very talented. Should stay at least one more season and possibly lead the Orange back to the Final Four.....unless he doesn't feel he'll be able to succeed next season as Syracuse enters the ACC. Late 1st Round Pick

Gorgui Dieng, Louisville, Junior
The Cards don't win a National Championship without Dieng. Dominant defensive force, nice mid-range game. I'm okay with him leaving now. Lottery Pick.

Tim Hardaway Jr, Michigan, Junior
Not too sure about this one. I don't think he's ready for the NBA and I feel he caved into pressure from Burke and his dad to come out now. Again I would've liked to see that Michigan squad together again. Mid-Late 1st Round Pick.

Alex Len, Maryland, Sophomore
Okay let me take a deep breath before I express how dumb, stupid, unintelligent, not smart, and dumb Leb is for leaving Maryland anywhere before graduating. I could tolerate if he left after next year to avoid playing in the Big10 but he has no business in this draft. Not skilled enough, not quick enough, clearly not smart enough. And the sad part about this is that he's easily the best big man in the ACC this season if he stays. 2nd Round Pick (if he's lucky)

C.J. Leslie, NC State, Junior
Leslie raised a couple eyebrows when he decided to stay at NC State last year as he would've been a high draft prospect. However, the Wolfpack were the preseason #1 pick in the ACC. NC State didn't perform up to expectations and Leslie's draft stock dropped. He needed to leave now. Late 1st round pick.

Ben McLemore, Kansas, Freshman
Great talent, but not exactly consistent enough on the big stage for the NBA yet. You all know my feelings on freshman leaving school after one year but he will be a high pick regardless because of his talent. Lottery Pick.

Nerlens Noel, Kentucky, Freshman
Speaking of freshman leaving......if you think I disagreed with Len coming out early, you haven't seen anything yet. This kid tore his ACL in February and declared for the draft in April. It takes at least 8 months for an ACL to fully heal so when he gets drafted in June, he still won't be able to participate in basketball drill barring some miraculous recovery. I'm not sure who told him it was a good idea to declare but they lied to him. If I'm a Kentucky fan, I'm disgusted with Noel for the simple fact that he tweeted the day after his injury "minor setback for a major comeback". If I'm a fan of the Cats, that tweet made me look forward to next season. Now from a basketball standpoint. Tall and athletic, great shotblocker. Rare to find his size and athletism now which is why he'll probably go #1 despite not playing a second of basketball since tearing his ACL. Top 5 Pick.

Victor Oladipo, Indiana, Junior
Oladipo was my player of the year before I actually watched Trey Burke play. This guy is talented and a leader. Knows how to get to the basket and can shoot it from outside. Can play the 1 or 2 with the right coaching in the NBA. Top 10 Pick.

Shabazz Muhammad, UCLA, Freshman
This guy Shabazz. I'm not gonna call him a kid because he looks damn near 30. His dad says he's one age, while he claims another age. He didnt show up in big games when he needed to and personally I feel he used the NCAA this season. He never truly showed dedication or passion for the Bruins. If you could come to the league straight out of high school, he would have. I expect UCLA to have sanctions in the future from Muhammad lying about his age one way or another. The shame is that this is a fairly weak draft class and he will go early. Lottery Pick.

Otto Porter, Georgetown, Sophomore
Emerged into the national scene late in the season, probably too late in the season despite earning the Big East player of the year award. Don't exactly know if he's NBA ready or not, and as a leader of Georgetown I feel he needs to comeback and redeem the Hoyas from that embarrassing end to the season. At the same time, I understand not wanting to participate in the conference realignment. Late 1st Round Pick.

Deshaun Thomas, Ohio State, Junior
No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No Deshaun Thomas should not be entering the draft early. Ohio State doesn't exactly have a good record of sending kids into the league early. Please google Greg Oden and Jared Sullinger if you disagree. The kid is good but I feel he will benefit so much more if he tried to lead the Buckeyes to a National Championship during his senior year. Late 1st Round Pick.

Cody Zeller, Indiana, Sophomore
Zeller began the season as the unanimous preseason player of the year, and ended the season without a single vote for POY. Part of that was due to the emergence of players like Burke and Olandipo, but alot of it has to do with Zeller not performing up to the expected potential. I have always felt he was overrated and maybe I'm right but we'll see what the NBA scouts think come June. Mid-Late 1st Round Pick.

Tomorrow I will be posting my 2013 NBA Playoff Predictions and I have a few surprises in store.

The end of the NBA regular season is this Wednesday, and with the playoffs beginning this Saturday.
I'm gonna do something different with this post. No serious ranting, no controversial topic, just taking time to say who I think will win this year's regular season awards, and then who I might give the award to.

PROBABLE PICKS:

MVP-LeBron James (must I explain)

Rookie of the Year-Damian Lillard (arguably more obvious than LeBron)

Sixth Man-Jamal Crawford
not my choice but a possible choice with the right argument. Played a key role starting while Chauncey Billiups was hurt and always provided guaranteed points when CP3/Blake didn't perform.

Defensive Player of the Year-Larry Sanders (I'm completely clueless on this one but Sanders is the name I've been hearing as of late)

Coach of the Year-Tom Thibodeau
Thibs didn't have the best PG guard in the league all season and still managed to get his team back in the playoffs, snap the 13 game win streak of the Knicks and the Heat's historic 27 game win streak. He also dealt with injuries to key pieces such as Rip Hamilton and Joakin Noah. Did I mention that the best PG in the league is on his team and still hasn't played yet?

MY PICKS:

MVP-Carmelo Anthony
Before you ridicule me for this, I feel there is no way LeBron doesn't win his 4th MVP, but Melo kept his team in the race for the #2 seed in the East all season, which they clinched earlier today, despite injuries to STAT, Chandler, and dare I say it Kenyon Martin. I also feel that Melo's performance in the month of April is more impressive than what LeBron did in February.

Rookie of the Year-Damian Lillard
I tried to find someone to compete with Lillard here but it wasn't happening. Started the season as the 12th man on the bench and ended up breaking the rookie record for 3 pointers in a season with a month left to go. Cue the dreaded Drake song?

Sixth Man- JR Smith
Well since the MVP and 6th man have never been on the same team, I'm making history with my picks, but I'm more confident in giving JR this award. Plain and simple, JR should be starting. Instant spark, instant offense, brings the attitude. A true leader and shooting guard. His stats speak for themselves.

Defensive Player of the Year- LeBron James
Since I'm not giving LeBron my MVP, I can't deny him this award. He can effectively guard ANY player in the league except maybe Dwight Howard and Roy Hibbert when they have good nights. He is a force to be reckoned with.

Coach of the Year- Mark Jackson
HA!!!! I know you didn't expect to hear that one. Please tell me that you expected Golden State to be in the playoffs this year, or even have a record over .500. Hmmmmmm I don't see any hands raised. I'll rest my case there.

Now that my season awards are done. I'll make a couple more basketball related shout outs:

First goes to the Louisville men and UCONN women for winning there respective national championships

Next one goes to my mom for beating me in our bracket pool this year, no shame

Speaking of brackets, a good friend of mine did her first bracket this year and had me sweating bullets down to the final 4, so s/o to Jasmine

And finally, Brittney Griner, Elena Delle Donne, and Skylar Diggins will all get drafted into the WNBA tomorrow. Three of my favorite female players ever and they will continue to be in the pros.

Once everything in the NBA playoffs are locked, I'll make to predictions down to the NBA Finals.

Now before I start, I do want to acknowledge that in a prior post I stated that college sports are better than professional sports, in my opinion. While you read this please remember and realize this rule is a NBA rule, not NCAA and that I still hold true to my opinion.

With that being said, I rise this question. Should the NBA do away with the "one and done" rule?

Since 2005, in order to enter the NBA Draft, you must play at least one year of college basketball. The alleged reasoning for the rule was to get NBA scouts and General Managers outside of high school gyms and that urban Americans were using the NBA as a shortcut in life to money and fame. We all have our opinions on how legit that reasoning truly is so ill let you judge for yourself.

Now if this rule were in place back in the 1990's Lebron James would've more than likely attended Ohio State, Kobe Bryant would have attended Duke University and believe it or not, Kevin Garnett probably would have never made it to the NBA. KG actually wanted to go to college but he simply wasn't smart enough, his high school GPA and SAT scores put him in a position to feel that his life was either basketball or bust.

While there are multiple loopholes to get around the "one and done" rule, I feel the rule isn't enough. I feel the NBA should implement the NFL's rule with a few tweaks. The NFL states that you must be out of high school for at least 3 years before entering the draft. While the rule doesn't state you must attend college for those 3 years, there hasn't been a player drafted who didn't attend college.

I feel you should have to play at least 3 years of college basketball before entering the draft and my reasoning is simple. Too many players are entering the league and getting hurt as rookies because their body hasn't fully developed.

Let's talk about Greg Oden, who only played 1 year at Ohio State, was the first overall draft pick in 2007 and has played a total of 82 games (one season) throughout his whole career due to injuries. Now lets talk about Jared Sullinger. Another Ohio State star who came out early and is now out for the season with the same back injury that nagged him throughout his college career. My mom happens to be a Buckeye fan and we both agreed that both athletes should've stayed in school to fully develop. We've both been proven correct.

Those are just 2 of my many examples to that argument. As always I could ramble forever but I'll close with this point. I dare someone to find me an NBA player who got worse after college before getting better. I mean I don't remember Michael Jordan getting a ring his rookie year in the league.

You'd think if you own a professional team sports and you had the money to spend on athletes, you could spend as money as you want or need to. That happens not to be the case for most professional sports, including the NFL.

In 1994, the National Football League adopted the salary cap. In sports, a salary cap is an agreement or rule that places a limit on the amount that a team can spend on player salaries. The supposed benefits of having a salary cap is so that owners who have an economic advantage over other owners can't translate that advantage to the field.

For example, the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball. The MLB does not use a salary cap and therefore wealthier owners can take advantage of having more money to spend on higher profiled players.

Who's to say how much an owner can spend on their team, when they OWN the team, if they legally have the money and there aren't any rules or sanctions in place to prevent a team from spending an excessive amount of money on a particular player, why not?

The Yankees are also another example that just because you have all the star players, doesn't guarantee you championships. They haven't won a world championship since 2009, and the last one before that was in 2000. Players still have to be healthy in order to play, and let's be honest, injuries happen in sports. Not only that, the players still have to perform at a high level on the field.

If you haven't caught my drift by now, I think the salary cap should be abolished in all sports. My stance on this is like that J.G. Wentworth commerical, it's their money, let them spend it now.

In most of my articles, I have my opinion is slightly biased. Nothing has changed this time. My Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens are in the middle of a complete overhaul of their roster because salary cap restrictions. We have lost 5 Super Bowl starters through free agency due to our tight salary cap, and quite honestly, we could lose a 6th player by time I finish typing this article.

This is once again an example of sports being dictated by money, something I'm clearly against if you've read any of my past articles, and something I will continue to express my distaste for.

I've thought about this question for awhile but I really got influenced to write about it from a good friend.

ARE COLLEGE SPORTS BETTER THAN PROS?

When I write or share an opinion I love to hear others play devil's advocate against me, mostly because I love to do the same myself. So feel free to comment below and tell me why you think college sports are not better than professional sports.

I'm a Duke fan and a Washington Wizards fan. If you were to offer me season tickets for both team but I could only pick one, its Duke without hesitation and it has nothing to do with which team wins more.

When Duke got destroyed at Miami earlier this season their starters NEVER gave up or asked to sit on the bench to "save gas for the next game". Even when they were down by 40 points, the starters and everyone else on that Duke team continued to fight to lessen the deficit.

If this were the Miami Heat losing by 40 with 10 minutes left in the game, rest assured Lebron, Wade, and Bosh would have on sweats and already have the ice on their knees to prepare for the next game. I mean, it's just 1/82 games, it's a long season. At least that's what that would say. At the end of the day, they still earned a game check.

College kids play their sport, whether its basketball, football, baseball, or whatever else, because they love and have a passion for the game. Don't get me wrong, keeping the full ride scholarship drags some influence into the equation but its not the majority. Playing in front of their peers, classmates, and passionate fans is what drives them

Once you make to the professional level of your sport, where does the motivation come from? You've made it to the highest level possible. There's nowhere else to go except another team at the same level. When professional athletes talk about how much they love their fans, I completely believe them, but not for the reasons they tend to portray. Without us, they truly are nothing. We don't watch, we don't buy their apparel, we don't buy their shoes, and guess who isn't making any money. At the end of the day, once you ignore all the ins and outs, we sign a good size of professional athletes paychecks. They might still have love for the game, but the passion aspect has truly diminished. They're playing to chase records, fame, and money. If this isn't the case, explain to me why Lebron took his talents to South Beach.

While I understand everything I have said about professional athletes doesn't apply to all off them, and vice versa for student athletes, I do believe my opinion applies to the majority

Normally to be the best, you have to beat the best. Whether this occurs in a head to head matchup or through comparasion of competition, it should hold true throughout sports.

With that being said, Duke being ranked #2 in this week's AP poll is absolutely inexplicable. Duke only moved up 2 spots despite being the ONLY team in the top 5 to go undefeated last week. This means 1,2,3, and 5 all lost at least once last week.

Usually if you lose, you drop, which has held true all season long, except for this week with the number 1 team, Indiana.

Indiana lost to a buzzer beater layup to UNRANKED Illinois and convincingly defeated #10 Ohio State on the road last week (1-1). Duke on the other hand beatdown in state rival NC State in a payback game and narrowly defeated Boston College last week (2-0).

If winning is what sports are all about, why did 44 of the 64 AP voters choose to vote against the only top 5 team not to lose last week as well as one of only two teams with only 2 losses and the only team to beat 3 top 5 teams, let alone in less than a month, earlier this season?

If you don't know already, I am a die hard Duke Blue Devils fan so this article most certainly has a biased opinion, however, numbers don't lie and you can't argue facts.

To be clear, there are 2 weekly college basketball polls. One is voted upon by AP members, the other is voted on by USA Today coaches. The USA Today poll correctly awarded the top seed to Duke. However, most of the media uses the AP poll for rankings.

The 64 AP voters are composed of media personalities and journalists around the country. The USA Today poll is composed of 31college basketball coaches from around the country.

I feel only one poll is needed during the regular season, especially considering the fact that a brand new committee sets up the rankings for that great tournament in March, and this week clearly proved that the coaches know more about basketball than the journalists.

When are the 2 times we play North Carolina?
When are the 2 times we play Maryland?
*looks at the rest of the schedule*

When my Duke Blue Devils basketball schedule comes out every season, that's exactly what I look for in that order, I always have, and I always will, that is until the fall of 2014.

With the University of Maryland leaving the ACC in 2014, for the Big Ten, those 2 great games a season between Duke/Maryland will be no more. If you aren't big into college sports, it's the equivalent of the Redskins/Cowboys not playing every year, or the Red Sox/Yankees not playing every year. It's a big deal

Maryland has been a part of the Atlantic Coast Conference since it was established in 1953, one of the original six teams still remaining in the conference.

I personally feel that tradition is the best part of college sports. I enjoy watching the close games in College Park that might decide a tournament bid, and as much as I can't stand Carolina blue, the best part of the regular season is watching Duke/North Carolina play for the ACC title in the last game of the season. Tradition is the biggest reason I like college basketball over the NBA, at least I think I still do.

Since 2010, over 50 conference changes have taken place or been announced for the future. By time 2014 rolls around half of the conference names in Division I sports will be inaccurate

Big Ten-will have 14 teams
Big 12-will only have 10 teams
Pac12-was PAC 10 before realignment
Big East- will drop from 18 to 14 and have a team from Idaho

The Maryland switch affects me the most as a Duke fan which is why I chose to single it out.

February 16th will be the 2nd to last time Duke/Maryland play in the Comcast Center as conference opponents. In November, tickets for this game were still on the market. 2 weeks ago, there were less than 20 seats left for $300/seat. College basketball tickets NEVER sell out that far in advance, except for when its the end of a tradition I guess.

We all know the University of Maryland made the move based on money, no matter what excuse they say in public, but 5-10 years down the road I hope the school President and Board of Trustees realize that tradition is priceless.

While doing my research for this article I found that Duke Men's Basketball coach Mike Kryzewski recently went on his on personal rant about this same topic. Coach K has been coaching at Duke since 1980 and has 942 career wins, so it's fair to say he knows a little something about tradition. The link to his article is posted below.
